On 3rd October 2024, the FilOz UQ student association brought together students, alumni, and industry professionals at the University of Queensland (UQ), fostering connections within the Filipino community in Brisbane. Upon the invitation of Miguel Clutario, President of FilOz UQ, Consul Sheryll Gabutero and Honorary Consular Officer Teisa Lanivia participated in this milestone event, deepening engagement with Filipino communities, organizations, and businesses in Brisbane.
The event aimed to broaden inclusivity by connecting Filipino students from three universities—UQ, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and Griffith University—with professionals from various industries. It also served as a pilot event to create a lasting network that bridges tertiary students and industry leaders, opening doors for future collaborations and career opportunities.
