Honorary Consul of the Philippines to Queensland, Sheryll Gabutero last October 2024 paid a courtesy call to Mayor Darel Uy of Dipolog City Government, Zamboanga del Norte, to discuss local projects and the future of the city. Mayor Uy emphasized Dipolog’s significance as the gateway to Western Mindanao, highlighting its strategic location and growing role in regional commerce, tourism, and development. He also shared key infrastructure initiatives, including the waterfront broadwalk, aimed at boosting the city’s appeal to visitors and investors, paving the way for a vibrant future.

After the courtesy call, Consul Gabutero was toured to the famous Dipolog Cathedral by Mario Romano, renowned for its historical and architectural significance. It stands as one of the oldest churches in Zamboanga del Norte, with a rich history dating back to the Spanish colonial era and having been visited by national hero, Jose Rizal during his exile in Dapitan between 1892-1896.
